The J.F.Dunne Insurances Grand Dublin Swim takes place this year (with a new name) on July 23rd, encouraging new and experienced swimmers into the water.

There are four distances to choose from this year, 1600 metres Olympic Distance, 750 metres, or 250 metres fun swim, or if you are really serious about your swimming, 5000 metres, new for this year.  Entries can be made here

The ILDSA / Dublin City Council Events and our main sponsor, JF Dunne Insurances Ltd. are proud to announce Ms Anna-Carin Nordin as the Ambassador for our third annual Grand Dublin Swim.

Anna-Carin hails from Sweden and was the first woman and second person in the world to complete the seven channels of the prestigious "oceans Seven" over a period of three years. She has crossed the North Channel not once, but twice. The first time she crossed as a solo swimmer as part of the seven oceans challenge and the second time as part of a two-way relay team.

Anna-Carin has completed an ice-mile in Callifayd, has been nominated for the 2011, 2012 and 2013 World Open Water Swimming Woman of the Year and finished third in the 2014 Winter Swimming Championships in Finland.

Anna-Carin has developed her incredible mental strength by facing all types of weather and alternating between warm and cold water. Her courage and determination makes her an extraordinary woman. A legend for some, an idol for others, she is not yet finished discovering the secrets of the ocean and there is far more to be written to her career.

For the first time, the Grand Dublin Swim 2016 will be introducing a 5km swim which Anna-Carin will participate in, and she will also be participating in the 25km Irish Championship in Lough Erne on July 30th.
